i keep getting blurry vision, unbalanced and dizzy when i stand up and this has happened for multiple months. i did my own research a long while ago and it said dehydration but i drink lotss of water daily to no avail. why could this be happening?

im 18 years old and went to the hospital 4-5 days ago for blurry vision, headache on one side of head, fatigue and brain fog. i found out i was severely dehydrated, they gave me 2 bags of glucose but ive still been feeling same.. im very scared?

: Are headaches constant or intermittent?  Are you paying attention to consistent hydration?  Is there a family history of headaches?  Just some of the questions which can lead to a reliable diagnosis of potential migraine, or head pain of a different etiology.  Suggest you now see neurologist and address the full spectrum.  No need to live with this, as intervention can turn it around.

: Definitely worth a visit with your doc. Among many other possibilities anemia or thyroid dysfunction +/- depression are high on the list. Tests will likely be needed. The sooner you address them, the better.

That's an emergency!: Any abrupt onset of change of vision needs immediate attention.  There are multiple causes. Some include: detached retina, acute glaucoma, a stroke that can occur in various part of the brain or cranial nerves, a condition called temporal arteritis (blood vessels become infllammed), migraine... Whatever the cause, have it checked.....Today!

No: Continuous use of electronic screen devices like ipod can be fatiguing and drying to the eyes but will do no permanent harm.  You might find comfort by using lubricating eyedrops frequently and taking a 2-3 minute break every hour or so.  If you need reading glasses, they can be helpful at your age.

Certainly can!: Typically blepharitis causes the eyes to have foreign body sensation, feel life there is sand or dirt in the eye, and there is a burning sensation.  Sometimes also itchy.  The tear film becomes unstable with fluctuating vision.  In much more advanced cases there can be ulcerations of the cornea, loss of the limbal stem cells and loss of clarity of vision.

Yes: Being hungover can lead to dehydration or headache which can make vision blurry. After adequate rehydration, food, and possibly some mild analgesic such as aspirin, acetominophen or ibuprofen, blurriness should improve. If it persists it may indicate a more serious problem which needs medical evaluation.

Occasionally: Celiac disease (crohns) has been associated with poor absorption of vitamin a (nightblindness) and some reports of retinal vessel blockage. It should be evaluate by an ophthalmogist.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Chlorine can act as an irritant and result in the surface of the cornea being dry and slightly cloudy.  It should clear up on it's own.  Lubricating drops may help.  See your eye doctor if this doesn't improve.
