Meds: Without more details it is hard to answer this. However, there are multiple classes of medications for ulcerative colitis and surgery is becoming less and less common. On trick that is often overlooked is topical medications (delivered rectally) that give a high dose of medication locally. Talk to your gastroenterologist.
