Possibly: I have often used osteopathic or manual medicine to treat not only headaches but some seizures as well. However i would use this as an adjunctive therapy in addition to antiseizure treatment to help with reducing frequency of symptoms.

Not a trigger: Am unaware that changes in humidity can affect seizure frequency or intensity.  However, an infection causing a fever, could make the susceptibility higher if a humid environment worked against lowering the temperature.

does alcohol make epileptics more likely to have seizures?

Accepted Answer

YES: In general, persons with seizure disorders should not drink alcohol.  Alcohol lowers the seizure threshold and may also interfere with any seizure medications you may be taking rendering them less effective.  If yoiu have a seizure disorder, you should discuss this very carefully with your pcp and/or neurologist before drinking alcohhol.  I would just not do it!

Complex partial sz: I think you may be referring to complex partial seizures and those that secondarily generalize. It is very common to have seizures that start in one area of the brain with loss of awareness followed by spreading to involve the whole brain. It is called complex partial epilepsy with secondary generalization. Hope that helps answer your question.

Seizures are abnorma: Nocturnal seizures are seizures that occur during sleep. These may be benign, as in benign rolandic epilepsy of children. They may be seizures that occur during the day as well as at night (not uncommon). They may also be seizures (such as frontal lobe seizures) occurring only during sleep with resultant abnormal behavior in sleep. A seizure is never normal and should be evaluated by a neurologist.

No overlap: Migraines are a common condition, and there is not very much in common with migraines and epilepsy or seizures.

Some people may have both, but one does not really lead to the other in this case.

VNS may help: Vns, together with anti-seizure medication, may reduce the number of seizures. However, vns is not always effective. Prior to considering vns, your therapy with medication should be reviewed. Vagyou should discuss your situation with a neurologist familiar with epilepsy and vns therapy.

Highly unlikely!: If a person is provoked into a seizure with flashing strobe lights then there should be something amiss neurologically. That person should be evaluated for a probable hidden, previously unknown form of epilepsy.

hi  i have epilepsy and have 30 seizures a day i'm on epillim 2000mg  a day is it possible to go on a higher dose?

Possible: 30 seizures a day is a high number for any seizure type other than absence or myoclonic seizures.  Make sure you are seeing a neurologist,  preferably an epileptologist. But yes, we use higher doses at times (3000-4000 mg/d in some cases). Don't increase without discussing with your neurologist, though.

Accepted Answer

Possible : If florid and untreated, can cause dehydration and chemical imbalance, which can eventuate in full blown seizures.
