Difficult to Say Now: Some evidence supports higher risk of bipolar ; other mental illnesses in families but no clear connections on whether it is genetic. Fibromyalgia does have some genetic connection. With current studies ; the human genome project more information is gained daily. While we can&#x27;t say for certain now, it may not be long before we can.The good news is all these are much more controllable every day.

Reflux is universal: For a baby to burp (like you want) it refluxes air from the stomach. A wet burp is the same event with a little added.All babies reflux to some degree & their flat position to rest aggravates the process.Some babies become agitated after a while from the stomach acids that accompany the reflux events & improve with treatment. We don't label reflux a disease unless  the kid has life altering sx.

Children : Children (and infants) can most definitely get gastroesophageal reflux disease.  In fact, it is not at all uncommon.

Here are a few tips you can try:
- milk is a great antacid.  You can have her drink a glass if she's feeling a little discomfort.
-try and pay attention to what foods cause the problem - fatty/greasy foods? Acidic foods like tomato sauce and citrus?  Carbonated beverages? Avoiding these foods can help alleviate the problem.
-make sure she's not eating close to bedtime.  Eating an hour or two before laying down can worsen reflux symptoms.

If her symptoms are worsening, becoming more frequent or if any of the above suggestions do not help, it's worth contacting her doctor to discuss other treatment options.  Sometimes a stronger acid blocker is required for a few months to heal everything completely.

Spit + pain: Gerd = gastroesophageal reflux disease. It's when food repeatedly comes up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing discomfort. If little babies spit up but don't have pain or fussiness, that's just spit-up, not gerd.

Maybe: Gerd is usually controlled with lifestyle changes and medication.  There are some who are "cured" with certain surgical procedures which don't allow the stomach contents to reflux up into the esophagus.  See your pcp or a gastroenterologist or a surgeon who specializes in this area.  Surgery is usually reserved for those who cannot get control with medications or have other reasons.

Quite a few symptoms: Gastroesophageal reflux disease=acid from stomach refluxing into esophagus/mouth causing symptoms such as acid/sour taste in mouth, chest pain/heartburn, indigestion/dyspepsia, biter taste if bile comes up, sorethroat/hoarseness, coughing--symptoms often worse with spicey, fatty foods, alcohol, mint, caffeine etc...Everyone refluxes a bit; too much =gerd.
