No: There is no need to worry about ricin being in the castor oil, compared to all the other things we have to worry about in life. Castor oil may not be needed nor useful... which means one should investigate to see if castor oil has been truly proven to help in the way one is using it (castor oil has been around a long time and has many myths about it).

No &amp; No.  DON'T DO: THIS!  While castor oil is edible and can be used cautiously on the skin, it should never be put directly in the eyes.  Ditto with other edible substances including apple cider vinegar.  If the pterygium causes discomfort or interferes with you field of vision, contact an Ophthalmologist.  I know that it can take some time to see an eye doctor (MD or DO) but don't be tempted to self treat.

Maybe: What you are describing sounds like an infected lid margin gland (meibomium).  Using an occlusive oil or gel can clog the opening of the gland resulting in it backing up and becoming infected.  Stop using these thngs on the eyelid.  Only use soap and water, or a water based makeup remover.  If you have an infection, warm compresses may help it reolve.  If no quick resoution, you may need antibioti
