Hard to say: Gonorrhea can be resistant to any penicillin like antibiotic, including Augmentin. Chlamydia is also resistant to Augmentin. If you believe you have acquired one or both of these you need proper testing to see what if any you have along with any others that may be present. Treatment if needed can be based on what is found &amp; use effective drugs.

: Amoxicillin has modest activity against chlamydia -- not reliable for cure, but probably would prevent infection if exposed while taking it. But don't rely on it:  if defintiely exposed (i.e. your partner has a positive test), you should be treated with azithromycin or doxycycline. If not certain about exposure, play it safe and get tested for chlamydia 1-2 weeks after finishing amox/clav.

Need more than that: It is not the doc for chlamydia  u need zithromycin or Doxycycline and if u have pid with other organisms as well you need multiple antibiotics and stronger ones than amox-clav  please discuss with your gyn.

: The tests today generally depend on finding the DNA of the germs, not live germs. The Augmentin might kill off some of the germs, but that level of treatment is unlikely to remove all traces of their dead bodies from your test site.

If dosed right: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) would help kill off some strains of gonorrhea, but not all. It would likely do nothing for chlamydia and many other STI's. It would be best to get in to see a provider knowledgeable about current treatment protocols and get correct treatment, if needed.This is nothing you would want to self treat with borrowed meds. Several of these germs can make you sterile.

Yes, reliable: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) could interfere with NAAT testing for either gonorrhea or chlamydia, but not this soon. It would take several days of treatment to have any effect. Your negative test is reliable for both gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Not good choice.: Pid and chlamydia deserve Rocephin and zithromax/doxycycline. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is not a good choice.

: Would recommend requesting expedited partner therapy (EPT) through your doc or your partner’s doc rather than taking amoxicillin-Clav blindly, not a first line choice for Chlamydia infections.
