i find heartburn relief with apple cider vinegar gummies after years of struggling. my doctor mentioned that it could cause silent gerd and stomach inflammation. are you likely to have silent gerd if you used to suffer from full-blown gerd?

: Silent GERD is a thing, but I wouldn't worry about it much. I suspect their comment was wondering why adding an ingested acid product (vinegar) to a reflux problem would help. I suspect it has less to do with the apple cider vinegar than the gummies. It has been known for decades that simple carbohydrate sugars will settle the stomach. I suspect a little honey or karo would help you as well.

No studies : Never been proven in a study but some people swear by it. Doesn&#x27;t hurt to try. Remember to buy apple cider vinegar with mother&amp;#40;mother is the yeast that ferments the apple cider&amp;#41;. One to two tablespoons per full glass of water 2x/day.

Your doc can give: You something for it after he/she diagnoses it.  You can also use dgl, available in the health food store.  These capsules are licorice w/out an enzyme that raises blood pressure.  They coat the lining of esophagus.  Peace and good health. Apple cider vinegar is fine bt please make sure you use the "with the mother" on the label (peelings).  Dilute w/water. Worth a try: While the drugs you mention are proven to help reflux, they can have serious side effects, some even life-threatening. While I am not aware of research on apple cider vinegar for reflux, it is a widely-used folk remedy that has helped many. I don't see why: it would.  I also don't think that (m)any drugs interact with apple cider vinegar.  It's no different than a bowl of for example hot and sour soup....
Very good that you know to take ACV for GERD and not proton pump inhibitors, which are very dangerous long term.

Not necessarily: Apple cider vinegar is acidic. The esophageal mucosa is not protected very well against acidic materials.

Avoid vinegar: A person with heartburn should avoid vinegar and other acidic foods or liquids. The person is likely already taking acid blockers and antacids to decrease acidity in the stomach. It would be bad to eat or drink more acid, because the whole point of treatment is to decrease acid in the stomach and esophagus.

i took prilosec for a long time, and i finally doing better because i started taking apple cider vinegar gummies. i have been taking them for two months once a day. i don't have all of the heartburn symptoms that i used to have. is it safe to do so?

: There is no data on safety of apple cider vinegar on the esophagus. I'm leary about it as it's an acid!  I don't recommend it.   Prilosec doesn't stop reflux but it protects the esophagus from acidity but check with your MD or a gastroenterologist about longterm use of prilosec for your particular condition. Perhaps intermittent use of famotidine, carafate,mylanta is a good alternative.

Good possibility: There is a good chance that the cocktail you are using would cause you heartburn symptoms, by combining 2 acidic liquids. Would definitely recommend giving it a trial in discontinuing it and see if your symptoms improve. Is there any specific reason for why you are drinking consistently that?

Needed?: Ask yourself if you really need these-your body makes plenty of acid already, as well as digestive enzymes, so unless you have a proven deficiency, stop taking them and see if your symptoms disappear! if not, see your GI doc to investigate for other causes of dyspepsia.
