Improbable: The description of your symptoms does not sound to me like something that would be commonly found to be due to anxiety. First of all the duration of the symptoms is way too long. I would continue to pursue other avenues. If necessary get a second opinion at the university teaching hospital. Checking for spinal pathology would be reasonable and you also don't mention having had an ultrasound of your legs either. It would be premature to conclude that this is due to anxiety. Bestwishes.

Not from nothing: If the leg is just fine to begin w/ - it is very unlikely (but possible). If already imperfect, yes. Intense anxiety/stress can make any pain much worse. So, find and make as much therapy help as you can!

Muscle pain and: cramps can be due to low magnesium or the side-effect of statin medications.  Please see  your doc.  After that you  may want to supplement w/magnesium.  Peace and good health.

Pretty unlikely: There are some physical complaints that seem more common in patients with stress or anxiety.  This includes neck and shoulder pain and low back pain.  While it is possible stress and/or anxiety may play a part, it is fairly uncommon for stress to cause constant leg pain.  Consider another opinion or further testing.  Thank you for your question.

Anxiety talking: There is what we used to call "neurotic anxiety" - fears about things one need not worry about and reality anxiety - fears about things that can be wrong or really hurt us.  Worrying about new or repeating pain is real worry - it is a message speaking loud and clear: "this needs to be properly medically assessed".  Listen to the message, it is important, and unsafe to ignore.

Cortisol hormone: The increase in the hormone cortisol from stress, may contribute to chronic pain. Some forms of chronic pain could be due to the cumulative destructive effects of cortisol on muscle, bone and neural tissue as well as the immune system. Stress and anxiety are a factor, not the cause.
