what is it like to experience forgetfulness and trouble finding their words after being on antidepressant?

I'm not sure I : Understand your question &amp; other doctors may not as well, but memory loss or difficulty finding words should not be from taking an antidepressant. Since I am not a physician ask the prescribing physician if these could be side effects for the specific antidepressant. Depression might impact on memory, but word loss would make me consider having the person speak to a physician or a neurologist.

Yes: Drug development and pharmaceutical companies often find out other uses for the medication during clinical trials and even after the drug is released.  If it is to be safe and effective the FDA in the US must review trials and give it conditional use and labeling.  It undergoes further consideration for patients and human trials. After many long months it can be released with a new indication.

Ok talk to your doc: If feeling worse then let you doctor know and see if meds need to be changed or need Counseling.

should i pick up more of my antidepressant before covid-19 gets really bad? what if i can't get a refill.

Ask and see: Depending on which anti-depressant you are on and the laws where you live you may or may not be able to get a refill or more medication before a certain point...but it can't hurt to ask.  At least where I am most doctors are still working at least some and pharmacies are open so you should be able to get your refill, when appropriate, even if the pandemic worsens in your area.

do antidepressants do any good if your home life doesn't change? or do they just make you ok with the everyday things that make you miserable?

Antidepressants: treat symptoms of depression when medical causes have been ruled out: eg., negative, sad mood, low energy, poor concentration,  disturbed sleep/appetite.  They do not solve your problems, but can make you better able to cope overall. Psychotherapy is often recommended to problem solve and help you understand why you act the way you do. Take care.

no matter what antidepressant i am put on they don't agree with me.i suffer with mild anxiety.why does this happen.and what drug is best, thanks?

Mild anxiety: Antidepressants especially ssri are preferential treatment but if they can not be tolerated, short acting benzodiazepams could be used. Mindful of dependency and adverse effects especially when combined with alcohol and opiods that could be fatal. Counselling, excercise, yoga and meditation other forms interventions that do not require medications could be effective.

my dr just started me on 300 mg of lithium because i cannot take antidepressants and she told me i shouldn't gain weight but i think she is wrong?

Could happen: Lithium can certainly cause weight gain.  But it doesn't always, and 300 mg is a small dose, making this side-effect less likely.  With any medicine, you & your doctor have to weigh the risks and benefits.  Most antidepressants can also cause weight gain, and several of the "atypicals" (used for bipolar,  psychosis, & sometimes severe depression) can cause big weight gain.  Consider your options.

how can i stop needing antidepressants?  i have been on them for 2 years and i don't want to need them anymore.  i don't take them recreationally.

See therapist: While still on medication, start cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise, attend to healthy diet and sleep cycle, consider yoga.  Under the direction of your doctor then consider whether you can wean your antidepressant.  Some with a genetic predisposition may need lifetime treatment but many can do well with lifestyle and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Examination: You need a thorough physical and psychological examinations. 1 in 5 Americians suffer from mood disorders. I would also advuse thyroid and female hormonal level checks

i took for almost ayear antidepressants. forabout one month i don't take it anymore.i have myperiod since tuesday but it is 1-2 "drops" a day. normal?

Can't answer: This may be spotting instead of your period. I don't know of association of menstrual changes with ssri discontinuation. (but i don't know if you were on an ssri as the type of antidepressant isn't listed).
