Possible, but...: Foreign-body-related UTI tends to be protracted; it's worthwhile to think of and check it out. So, collect the features of utis including its onset, voiding sx, response to rx, frequency, interval, etc. Of UTI over time and their detailed sequence of events, and bring those to doc of expertise for review, analysis, more hx, physicals, cystoscopy as needed, so to deduce tvt-related recurrent uti.

a few times a month the area where my appendix was (was told it was so bad that it "probably turned to goo") i get a pain. it is sharp but short lived. cause for concern?

Doctor can evaluate: Lower right abdominal discomfort can be from many things. For pain there, appendicitis is always a concern (pain usually worsens over time, with fever coming on). If one is constipated for several days, stool can back up all the way to the right side. Gallstones, kidney problems, and ovary issues can cause pain. A primary care doctor or a general surgeon can examine. An imaging scan may be needed.

Different things: Antibiotics kill or inhibit bacterial growth. Some probiotics are actually bacterial colonies such as in yogurt that promote valuable bodily functions. Different bacteria are either sensitive to or resistant to antibiotics. Probiotics are often prescribed to correct antibiotic-induced diarrhea.

what is the recommended dosage and length of time to take antibiotic as a prophylactic against food poisoning? rifaximin for example can be taken for 3 days to treat travelers diarrhea, do you have to take the full cycle when using as prophylactic?

: Especially in a foreign country the best preventative is careful avoiding of  eating  certain foods&amp; drinking bottled water. It's not customary to take antibiotics preventatively to prevent food poisoning but having antibiotics on hand to take if it occurs is wise. With a single dose of rafampin, half of it is gone after 2 hours &amp; 75% gone in 4 hours,etc as a guideline. I hope this helps.

if you turn bright red after a short time after taking a antibiotic does this mean your allergic? can you get tested for all antibiotics allergies. if they inject it and you have a bad reaction do they have rescue meds. thank you?

: It depends on the antibiotic. Vancomycin has a known reaction called redman syndrome which is not a true allergy, but rather a reaponse to the Antibiotic. It typically goes away with benadryl or on its own and does not mean you are allergic to it. Talk to your prescribing Dr for them to examine the response to this med. True allergic reactions typically show red spots or hives.

i inhaled a lentil from lentil soup. my doctor prescribed antibiotics but no x-ray.  i'm short of breath, tired all the time,  heaviness in my chest.

Go back to doctor: Post obstructive polymicrobial necrotizing pneumonias can follow aspiration of foreign bodies, and the symptoms may be minimal at first.  But this can develop into a serious problem.  Make notations of all of your symptoms, take your temperature several times, and bring the info with you when you see your doctor.

i have had a sore throat in my urethra near the exit for about five years. i took antibiotics a few times and got better, but it reappears after a while and there are pus and blood stains on my underwear. what advice do you recommend?

Uretheral sore: Would have it checked out with gyn  or urologist  . Also though rare would consider autoimmune disease like Behcet's F/u/ w/ MD

No: No.  You could wear the contact in the other eye only or your glasses.  Wearing the contact in the eye prior to complete ulcer resolution could result in permanent damage.

flonase doesnt help,ive had antibiotics a couple times to help. ive seen an ent once, and he recommended sinuplasty. howwould that help? whatcanido about this?

Saline nasal washes: The first and most important thing you can do is to do saline nasal washes daily. This removes bacteria and flushes out the mucus that accumulates as well as soothes the inflammation in your nasal passages. Sinuplasty should be a last resort as the complication rate is very high.
