can my 11 month old son drink pedialyte diluted with water as a drink daily? it's 1:1 ratio 6 oz of pedialyte total per day.

Why: It is no better or worse than any other source of fluids in his diet.It does not offer nutrients beyond the sugar and electrolytes in the product. If he like s the taste it won't hurt him but don't expect it to make him healthier.

at what age can an infant start drinking water and how much? for example, if the child is sick, can you given them only pedialyte?

See below: Pedialyte is only recommended for a child with vomiting and diarrhea. Discuss the addition of water with your child's provider. There is usually no indication to give just plain water.

is there any other drink/anyway to get hydrated other than water? i just can't drink as much as i should, i get so full and bloated! pedialyte or som?

drinking water: Pure water is the best drink on earth.  Try it cool not hot.  Small amounts frequently rather than large amounts.  Depending on your size, you may not need as much as you think.  You can add a little lemon or some green tea with splenda for a change.

Why ?: Pedialyte is designed to meet the hydration needs of infants. Adults can get the same benefit from other less expensive products like Gatorade when diluted with water, or just normal fluids as part of balanced nutrition. Nausea can reflect many issues, some simple &amp; some deadly.A doctor visit for a good workup would be smarter than self diagnosis &amp; treatment.

i have gastritis and my doctor told me only drink pedialyte and water. im hungry, can i eat anything else without getting worse? it's been 24 hours

Gastritis: After 24 hours of nothing but clear liquids, I believe you need to slowly reintroduce foods with more nutritional value.  But, I don't have you complete history so I really cannot go any further in advising you other than to strongly urge you to contact your doctor and get further guidance.

Depends.....: That would depend upon the distance you run, duration and intensity of the workout. Anything longer than 30 minutes or moderately intense would probably benefit from an electrolyte solution. Otherwise, water would be your go yo fluid

i took aldactone (spironolactone) 25mg 3x/day(no steroids) for 2 days before a bodybuilding comp.   3 days later i am bloated like a blowfish. been drinking water, pedialyte, not getting better.  what can i do?

Exam: Bloating is not always related to fluid retention; however, I am assuminging you were placed on aldactone (spironolactone) for edema ( fluid in legs or other body parts). Bloating can also be related to fluid or gas in the GI or pelvic area. Defintely consult your private physician.

See below: You can give fever/pain medicines like Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen only.  No other over the counter meds are recommended as safe or effective for kids under 4 yo.  Prop or sit the child up, humidify the air and suction the nares and mouth with saline to clear mucous.  This is supportive care and the most recommended plan.

Yes: It is essentially the same as IV fluid. It is specifically designed for infants and toddlers who have need for oral re-hydration and substitutes for a trip to the hospital and iv's. Adults are more tolerant to a simplified oral hydration solution and could do well on gateraid or other similar drink.
