how can u get rid of acid reflux? i have it really bad. i also have anxiety/panic attacks. help!

Calm down!: Gerd is common--present in about 70 million americans. As such, there are easy solutions if you have just symptoms. If however you have inflammation due to gerd, this can be progressive & needs to be controlled. Start with behavior & diet changes (see prior healthtap answers), add acid-blocker medications (either h2-blockers or ppi's). Get evaluated, especially if atypical, chronic &/or worsening.

i just found out that im 5 weeks preagnant, few weeks before i took nexium (esomeprazole) for acid reflux and sertraline for panic attacks. is that safe for the baby?

Likely OK: Nexium (esomeprazole) not a problem. The jury is not in yet on sertraline during pregnancy. The problems that have been suspected with sertraline appear to be more of a problem later in pregnancy, closer to delivery, with some of these meds being suspected to be involved in some cardiac/breathing problems in newborns at the time of birth with a condition called persistent pulmonary hypertension.

is orthopnea (to the point you need to prop up on pillows in order to sleep at night) ever caused by acid reflux &/or severe, chronic stress & anxiety? to be clear: it's definitely orthopnea, not a panic attack, although i have plenty of those, too?

: This could, indeed, be due to significant gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). You could prove this—and get relief, probably—by trying OTC Prilosec or other proton pump inhibitor (PPI) about an hour before bedtime. Should this not be effective, and it may take a couple of days, you should consider seeing you healthcare provider. Good luck for relief!

Acid reflux: Yes. Sounds like you are having laryngospasm from laryngopharyngeal reflux. Take prilosec 20mg two or three times a day, no late meals, limit caffeine, smoking, alcohol, spicy foods

Globus sensation?: Do you experience the feeling of a ball or lump in the back of your throat that you have to swallow past? If so, this is "globus."  alternatively, you may have laryngo-esophageal reflux without heartburn. Sometimes, the actual swallowing mechanism may be impaired due to "spasms" or dysmotility. A gastroenterologist or ear-nose-throat specialist is a good starting point for evaluation.

Yes: Acid reflux can cause a number of chest symptoms. Tightness, burning cough etc. Ischemic heart disease can also cause a range of symptoms not necessarily the  ones you might expect to be associated with a "heart attack." Seek evaluation by a health care professional who will be able to differentiate these for you.

Possible: An estimated 20 - 60% of patients with gerd have symptoms in  throat (hoarseness, sore throat) without any significant heartburn. A failure to diagnose and treat gerd may lead to persistent throat conditions, such as chronic laryngitis, hoarseness, difficulty speaking, sore throat, dry cough, constant throat clearing, and granulomas (soft, pink bumps) on the vocal cords.
