Vasovagal syncope: This is a common cause of fainting. I doubt two glasses of wine would cause a fainting spell. Have some basic bloodwork done and get a doctor to examine you in person right away. Many doctors send patients who faint to the ER since it can represent a life threatening emergency.

Yes: Both processes can be associated with a seizure. In the case of a concussion. A seizure associated with a concussion is an indication of severity.  However, with a vasovagal episode, many people will have a brief episode of tonic/clonic activity that comes on when they  faint. This is not a seizure. Some people do have seizures though with vagal response.

Common faint: Vasovagal syncope is the most common type of fainting that occurs when the blood pressure drops suddenly, reducing blood flow to the brain. It is often caused by dehydration or becoming overheated. Stress and anxiety can provoke it as well.

Variable: Depends on how bad the spell is and how quickly you institute measures to reverse it. Methods that raise your BP like lying down, elevating your legs, isometric exercise like making a fist, if started at the first sign can abort it rapidly: seconds to minutes. Once established, without treatment, people can feel weak and dizzy for an hour or even more.

Not really: Neurocardiogenic syncope in young people is pretty common and there are different triggers that lead to the faint in people, but the trigger is often the same for a particular person. A large study was done comparing lifestyle change training vs this training +tilt training: no real difference in outcome. Also tilt training takes a lot of discipline and is not easy.  So, not really.

Try this: Vasovagal syncope, which is accompanied by a fall in BP and often slowing hr,  always has warnings which consist of nausea, feeling hot, becoming lightheaded, and visual changes such as darkening. At the first sign, lie down. If possible, elevate your legs. There are two benefits: it will raise your BP and avoid injury if  you do faint. Other hints: always eat breakfast. Betablockers help.

does deep breathing help abort vasovagal syncope?

: I find that taking deep breaths repeatedly can both accelerate the heart rate but at other times can slow it which would aggravate vasovagal syncope. If you feel faintness coming on,I recommend lying flat and supine to get blood flow to the brain.lying down often makes the heart rate go up as an added benefit.
