Moisturize: Cracked heels are generally just very dry skin. Keep shoes and socks on to retain moisture. Use a pumice stone to smooth thick skin and moisturize faithfully. I have my patients put a heavy coat of hand lotion on the heels before bed and cover it with Saran wrap and socks. Rub with a warm wet washcloth in the morning and reapply lotion. No plastic wrap during the day...It's slippery.

Athlete's foot: The calluses might in fact be a type of athlete's foot.  Try using a topical therapy such as lotrimin (clotrimazole).  If the itching persists, consider getting evaluated by a podiatrist.

Pretty common: Sometimes this just seems to happen, but can be related to a fungal infection of the feet. For just the thick skin, a topical containing 12% ammonium lactate, a urea-containing product (various strengths), or salicylic acid in a petrolatum (vaseline) base can help to gradually remove the thick, hard skin. A pumice stone or other files, etc. Can get rid of thick skin, especially after bathing.

Try: to remove them with pumice stone or Emory board after you bathe. When the skin is soft it is the best time to do so. Also cream with uric acid or any emulsifying creams will also help. See a podiatrist for further evaluation. If the callus is too thick, debridement by a podiatrist is needed. also it is a good idea to have it checked out and make sure it is callus

Itching in the heel: This can be due to friction in the area where the bumps are contacting your shoes.  Most likely these are soft tissue growths over an area of a bony prominence.  Getting seen in person or virtually will help to determine the exact diagnosis and treatment.

Topical antibiotic: After cleaning with saline. Apply protective bangade and avoid pressure on area. Just to be safe, have it looked at by physician to make sure no infection or other issues affect this. By the way. Do not use the shaver again as it obviously is putting you at risk for injury. See a podiatrist.

Wearing high heels: If wearing shoes, especially womens dress heels barefooted, you can create a lot of friction from motion of feet in shoes.  If you wear hosiery it will likely help.  Also, daily footcare using exfoliating creams/soaps/lotions and/or pumice stonehi can help remove surface layers of builtup callus and keep skin soft and more elastic.
