how do you calculate an intermediate prescription for eye glasses?

Accepted Answer

Easy: Take the distance sphere power and add 1.00 to it and then take the near add power and reduce it by 1.00.  This is my typical calculation for computer glasses.  For example, your right lens is -2.25 +1.25 x 30 add: +2.00, your computer glasses would be -1.25 +1.25 x 30 add: +1.00.  Hope this helps.

why do i feel a dent on my lower tibia that isn't visible to the human eye? i've had this for a year and used to deadlift a lot with olympic plates which would sometimes bounce off my shin and bruise. no pain or swelling, should i be worried?

: It is likely that you have caused a small bone growth at the place of  repeated contact with the plates that is not visible, only palpable. An X-ray would suffice to clarify, your doc would be able to assess and advise based on findings.

when i run my back fingers across my right cheek i can feel a bumpy rigid texture not visible to the human eye. it spans across my cheek and has no visible inflammation. i have large pores and was wondering if this might be a reason?

Skin texture: This doesn't sound abnormal, probably nothing to worry about. But show it to your doctor if you remain concerned.

Need micro confirm: Sometimes wormy looking stuff really isn't a worm. If it is visible to the naked eye and it is moving, that is usually a pretty good sign it is indeed a worm. Still needs microscopic confirmation whatever it is.

Can't always: See a cavity. Consider cavities between teeth that may not be readily visible. Your dentist can evaluate to determine if there are cavities.

I guess: If you mean the white part of the eye, then yes. If the sclera, episclera or conjunctiva get sufficiently irritated or inflamed, they can look red--even violaceous. If you mean the colored part of the eye, well, i suppose it could if the eye was filled with blood (and even that would look closer to brown or black) or they had albinism (they would be pink from lack of pigment).
