are there any solutions to getting rid of or stop new calcium deposits from forming in back of throat?

Calcium?: I'm guessing that those are not calcium deposits. It's possible that you have pits in your tonsils from 40 years of occasional illnesses and tonsillitis. It's a little gross, but what happens with these is that food collects in little pockets and then putrifies. This gives you little, white deposits that smell bad. You can pick them out, use a water pick, or go all out and get a tonsillectomy.

had an x ray of my neck and chiropractor stated i take to my family dr as it appears i have calcium deposits on my thyroid, what can cause this?

Thyroid lump likely: 1/3 of folks with calcium deposits have thyroid lumps which may be benign or malignant. Important you see your doctor or an endocrinologist who will likely have a CT scan done

More information: Sounds like muscle spasm.  Does pain go into arms?  Why did doctor rush you to get ct?

i opened a calcium & magnesium capsule, so i took it, and the dust got in an odd part of my throat. throat still feels weird/scratched/burned. am i ok?

LPR: With feeling something like a rock in your throat, it is possible that you have reflux and Tums (calcium carbonate) might certainly be helpful.  Other common symptoms include frequent throat clearing and some gravely quality to the voice.  Heart burn is not common with this problem, but it certainly could get this.  Recommended treatments include antacids (tums), h2 blockers (zantac, etc) and drugs like omeprazole.

Yes: It is fine to take vitamins when you have a sore throat. If you have a sore throat with white patches you probably need to see your doctor and be tested to make sure that you do not have strep.

can my 7 year old take adult tums (calcium carbonate)? he is complaining of burning in the back of his throat. the problem is out of nowhere. not long term

Yes, but.....: Tums are calcium carbonate.  One or two should be OK--like drinking a glass of milk.

However, if your son is complaining of a sore throat, he may have a viral or bacterial infection (pharyngitis).  I'd be concerned about strep.  Recommend he be checked out for it.

Reflux: Liquid antacid elevate head of bed avoid lying down within four hours of eating. Diet reduce or stop caffeine avoid heavy spices decrease or stop alcohol. If you spike a fever or develop cough see physician immediately at risk for a difficult pneumonia called aspiration pneumonia both chemical and bacterial.

Sounds Like Reflux: Sounds like you have reflux. This is a relatively common problem where stomach acid refluxes upwards into your throat, causing the symptoms you describe. If it is bad, it can cause some moer serious problems as well. Prilosec is an otc med that works much better than tums (calcium carbonate). Try that first. If it continues, see your doctor.

i take prilosec and tums (calcium carbonate) but i still have pain in throat and chest everytime after i eat how do u know if your esophagus id damaged. what are sypmtoms?

Dysphagia: Are you taking those meds under a doctor's supervision? The otc versions should be limited to 2 weeks' use if not. You may have an anatomical problem instead of simple reflux. Please see a GI or ENT for a thorough evaluation- your esophagus needs to be examined, pronto!
