Yes: Generic verapamil is much less expensive than brand name Calan sr. The active ingredient and the duration of action are the same.

Not dangerous: Her BP is elevated but not dangerously so.  She should contact her doc before leaving and ask about adding a mild diuretic like HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) which would work synergistically with Losartan (Xavor) (and is compatible with Calan).

Tetanus shot : A sore arm is the expected side effect. Any allergic to reaction would have occurred by now such as rash and difficult breathing and GI symptoms
