i  have recently had surgery on my spine to relieve compression. i am now suffering from a swollen left foot which has suddenly started having a buzzing sensation under my foot - should i be worried?

No: it can take months for nerve to readjust after decompression and you can experience reinnervation phenomena give it some time

i have foraminal stenosis and severe bilateral nerve root compression at l5 from grade 2 spondylolisthesis.  recently ive developed buzzing/vibration feelings in my calves, ankles, and feet. could these weird sensations be from nerve compression?

: Yes these symptoms are consistent with your description. You are also very young to have developed such a condition. Has ia cause ever been given? Sometimes a limb length difference or a pelvic rotation can present such a condition. Which is treated by a podiatrist with biomechanics provide custom orthotics to provide better function and less pathology.

i have tingling in my left foot what causes this?  nerve compression?

Possibly: Tingling in the feet could be compression or it could be a form of neuropathy. If it is in the toes, it may even be a neuroma. It is best to have a specialist evaluate this to determine the source.

what do you suggest if i have diabeties and can't walk no more then 10 feet also what do you suggest if i have 2 blowed disks in my lower back with nerve compression can that keep me from walking ?

Work Up: Have you had a full work up and a recent MRI?  Is your diabetes controlled?  These are two important factors that need to be evaluated. If you have two back discs, they could be causing nerve compression. See a back specialist. Good luck!

paresthesias in the foot just represent nerve compression somewhere, not damage, so can be ignored?

Not necessarily: While nerve impingement can cause parasthesias in the foot, neuropathy caused by disease such as diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, changes in circulation, thyroid issues can cause them as well. While parasthesias can be annoying, seeing a doctor about the cause and treating them appropriately is the reason not to ignore them.

how can i tell the difference between numb patches on my feet caused by shoe/use compression or by more ominous causes?

Probably not shoes: A numb patch by a shoe is going to be either a callus, a wart (both easy enough to see), or go way quickly after the shoes are removed.  Sometimes nerves can be damaged more seriously by long term compression, but i would never assume that is the case without a doctor knowing the whole story and saying that was it.  The later would be rare.

Fracture vs.Athritis: This could be anything, but it may be a fracture, stress fracture, inflammation from arthritis, etc. I recommend that you see a specialist ASAP.

Alcoholism or Sugar: This is commonly seen in people who drink too much or who have a chronic illness such as diabetics.

I wonder if you: Have a nerve compression higher up? Were you sitting or laying in a weird position for too long  do you have any leg or back pain?

i have a swollen arch. what would you recommend to use. i am on my feet a lot and jog a couple of miles each day. would compression socks help?
