i need to rephrase my question from last time. i had laser vein removal causing burns and blisters. they healed but my legs look scarred. will the scares go away? its been a month. i was told by the doc they were superficial. its been a long time?

: As the body heals there is a lot going on in the skin &amp; blood cells. They need to be activated to start producing new skin cells. Some are busy destroying the  collagen that was laid down to pull the skin together. Others are cleaning up the black/blue.  Many instructions must be pulled from DNA of cell nucleus to tell each cell what to do &amp; when. Some do It faster. U cannot hurry Mother Nature!

i accidentally  got battery acid on my lip. i flushed it with water for about 20 minutes now it burns and blistered how do i treat it.

As a burn: This is a chemical burn and needs to be treated as such.  The early treatment is flushing the skin with water as you did.  Ice compresses will help with the swelling and an emollient ointment like vaseline will make the surface feel better.  The concern is secondary infection and scarring so a visit the a dermatologist would be in order.

Hair remover burns: I can appreciate your frustration. For hair remover burns simply wash the area copiously with cool water. Then apply an antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin, to the area 2-3 times a day. Long er term effects such as skin increased pigmentation would suggest the appropriateness of a visit to a dermatologist.

wearing winter boots, my little toe went from red to purplish red and burns like on fire. skin crusted then peeled off and now burns again. blister?

Have checked,: Especially if it continues to stay a purplish color. This could be a number of things, from simple skin irritation to an infection to vascular issues. Did it get excessively cold at any time, frostbite? Just be sure as necrosis can set in quickly. Sorry i cannot help more without seeing it, but my safest recommendation would be to have it looked at.

Symptomatically: Cool compresses and caring for the resultant wound/open skin is about all one can do.

Protect it: An unpopped blister represents a closed sterile environment.  Yes on occasion one can become infected then it is time to open it, however the risk of infection in a dressed open wound is still higher than that of an intact blister.  The blister will gradually resolve with time.

Certainly: Of course more serious burns blister.  Blisters are fluid between and separating layers of skin. As a result and expected sensation would be that of burning.

2nd degree burn: Blistering indicates a second degree burn. Ice will be helpful to control pain, unroofing the blister will probably increase pain so leave intact. Burning pain will resolve in 24 - 48 hours. Ibuprofen will help with the discomfort.

Second degree: By definition burns that blister are second degree, if no pain probably superficial second degree burn.

how long do the blisters on second degree burns normally last? i know not to drain them.

Accepted Answer

Usually not long: Usually they break in a day or two. If they are very annoying, your DR will use a sterile needle to drain them.
