Get checked: But, reddish firm nodules can be a condition called hidradenitis suppuritiva.  They can recur month to month and have some pain with them. 

Get an examination to be sure exactly what it is.

You may need to change soap/shampoo/detergent/skin cream use. You may need to ensure clean hands touching your skin at all times.You may need to decrease oily/greasy/fatty food intake. 
You SHOULD have this looked at, to be sure.
