i've had a bulging disc at c6 and 7 for 7 months been to chiropractor and everything imaginable no relief what do i do?

Bulging Disc: If the bulging disc is pressing on the nerve causing radiating pain and weakness or pressing on the spinal cord causing weakness and imbalance then surgery to take the pressure off of the nerve is an option.  If you have neck pain but the nerves or spinal cord are not under pressure then non-surgical treatments should be continued. Ask to be referred to a spine specialist.

Yes: Manipulation may actually be hurting you. 

Find a prolotherapist to help repair the weak ligaments that leads to the bulging disc.

They are similar: Usually a bulging disc refers to a disc that is starting to break down.  Like an old tire, part of the disc weakens and begins to protrude into the spinal canal.  A herniated disc is one that has popped and the contents of the disc rupture into the canal.  Sometimes they are used interchangeably since they are similar.

Disc : A disc herniation is a protrusion of the internal aspect of the disc to the outer boundary. The Bulge is an extension of the boundary. They both can be found in people with and without symptoms.  These can be MRI findings of importance or no importance.

Bulging Disc: A bulging disc may not be cause of pain. It is just a finding on and MRI and may not mean anything. In fact, in a review of lumbar mri’s in individuals with no back pain, 54% of people less than 60 had at least 1 bulging disc and 74% of those sixty and older had at least one bulging disc (boden et al, 1990). That being said an epidural block offers relief to many patients with back pain.

Maybe: Patients with thoracic lateral discs complain of pain that wraps around their back and can go to the abdomen region.  Usually when it comes from a thoracic disc it is a sharp shooting type pain.  However if you have only left upper abdominal pain this may not have anything to do with a disc as several other things can cause this. Please see your pmd.

Possible!: Discs undergo changes with age, like car tire wears with time. Disc degenerative start with dehydration of the nucleus pulposus which results in low disc turgor. Hence the disc height decreases, and "bulges" -- like tire with low pressure. This leads to more stress on the annulus covering which then tear, and disc can then herniate from tear. Like driving on a flat tire, exposes the inner wires.

Symptoms and size: A bulging disc is similar to your tire that has lost some air and the sidewall bulges. It may cause no symptoms but if it bulges more and is large even to pinch a nerve we use the term herniated disc. It is confusing for patients and for doctors who read the reports. The patients' history and clinical exam must be correlated with the x-rays.
