Many: Most insect which draw a blood meal though a bite will cause a local reaction with redness, swelling, warmth and itch.  It is often impossible to tell these apart, but bedbugs will often leave a straight line or repeat bites whereas other bugs like mosquitos, fleas, etc. May look scattered.  However, there are treated in the same way - wound care, steroid creams and antihistamines.

Only some: The obvious answer is that if you have seen or killed the bug itself. You can probably tell whether a spider has bitten you or not since the bite is usually solitary and tends to spread, darken, and get infected over a day or so.  On most occasions, it would be the environment where you get the bites which would provide the best clue.

Hives: Almost any bug bite can cause a raised skin lesion so you can never tell. On the other hand, spider bites tend to leave a blister- at least initially before it spread.

Not unusual: The venom from insect is meant for attack and defense and is chock full of chemical weapons. Thus getting a local reaction is expected and itching is not uncommon.  Since most of us have been stung repeatedly by the same insects, an allergy or immune response to the venom, a delayed reaction is the result of our immune responses. Some immune responses come faster than the others.

No: If you have bed bugs, i would call in an exterminator as they can be real buggers to try to get rid of.  Either bite can be treated with 1% Hydrocortisone cream. If the bites are serious i would see a dermatologist.

Usually mean allergy: Bug-bite-like spots can be from causes such as: bug bites (of course), hives, viral infections, medication causes, hot-tub rashes, heat rashes, reactions to lotions, allergic reactions to various things (including foods), internal disorders (such as kidney disease, auto-immune disease), etc...  Hives are usually due to allergy. Doctor can examine a rash that persists or is worrisome in appearance.

my son has three bug bites. they look like mosquito bites. they look like they are healing but now there's a ring around them that look like ringworm. it's not red, it doesn't hurt or itch him. and he has no other symptoms. what could this be?

Looks, Located, #s: Mosquito bites are generally just a few and follow being recently outside in the evening or night. Bed bug bites are more commonly located on the legs & feet and may cover large areas. Both mosquito & bed bug bites will have individual punctures. Hives tend to cover larger areas and have more aof a rash appearance.  When in doubt, see your md to be certain.

i have little pimple like itchy bumps on my body. these are not mosquito bites and not bed bug bites because they don't come in clusters what wrong ?

There are so many: reasons to have lesions that fit that description that it isn't even reasonable for me to guess at it.
