It could also be as severe as a vaginal, cervical, or uterine cancer.  Either way, post menopausal bleeding is never normal and you should see your physician for a definitive diagnosis.

Postmenopausal : Any bleeding after menopause has to be worked up by an endometrial biopsy or D&C with hysteroscopy.   The chance of cancer on the biopsy is 20%.  So, any bleeding after menopause is cancer until proven otherwise.
