Possible: around the time of ovulation and a few days past your cervical mucus is usually abundant and quite thin to allow better sperm motility.  Probably a bit early to start checking pregnancy test, but good luck if this is what you want

Unlikely.: Sure, you can be ovulating for the first one to two months even after starting birth control pills however a brown discharge would not be an indication of ovulation. For the first month it's recommended that you use a condom unless you start the medications on the first day of your period.

Possibly: Pull out method is not effective for birth control. Although chances of becoming pregnant are highest right around ovulation - pregnancy is still possible outside of that time parameter. Take care.

Sounds Normal: Sounds like a normal ovulatory cycle, depending on how you confirmed ovulation.  If your kit turned positive on day 15/16, then ovulation would occur 1-2d later which would be a little late.  The discharges are non-specific and don't really tell us anything in particular.

Brownish discharge: If you are around cycle day 13 (5 + 8) it is reasonable to assume ovulation. If you don't wish to become pregnant i suggest using contraception at this time in your cycle.

Beta HCG test: A blood beta HCG test is more accurate than home pregnancy tests. I would go for an evaluation and blood test.

Old blood: Brown discharge usually means there was old blood present that needed to come out. In most cases it is normal. If it continues then see an Obgyn for an exam

Not unusual: Ovulation is an inflammatory process.  The inflammatory chemicals (prostaglandins) may cause some instability in the uterine lining resulting in spotting.  This would show up as a brownish discharge.

Probably: These are not generally related at all. You'd need to give mor information to say you can/cannot ovulate, but the discharge is not to worry.
