Evaluation and treatment can help you ovulate if you wish to be pregnant. I f you are not interested in pregnancy, birth control pills can regulate and help prevent unhealthy uterine lining development. Occasional irregularity can be normal.

Common complaint:  Irregular periods are one of the most common problems Obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections &amp;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Difficult: I assume you are not pregnant.  Are you on the pill; if so and persistent, you may need an increase in estrogen; bleeding outside of the cycle is not unusual but rule out infection.  Sometimes cervical polyps can do it as well; there is nothing specific about bleeding then that will affect pregnancy, it is the cause that could be problematic.  Still likely not worrisome. Work up needed: Post-menopausal bleeding always deserves a work-up .  It may be due to a simple cause such as medication/Hormone replacement but a detailed history and exam are needed and possibly more in depth testing at a GYN office.  You don't want to miss something serious like endometrial cancer but if it is something less concerning then you can be reassured.

You should be...: Evaluated by your primary care physician and/or ob/gyn.  Bleeding outside of your normal menstrual period can sometimes be normal, but other times is indicative of something else going on.  A thorough history and physical examination as well as tests such as a pregnancy test and urinalysis would be important to get to the bottom of what is going on.

Unsure: There is no reason that should happen.  She should see her doctor for an exam and probably an ultrasound of the uterus to be sure there are not any problems.

Should Not Occur: You should not have bleeding at that time. Whether it is light or heavy you should be evaluated. Although it may be hormonally related it is important to make sure there is nothing anatomical like a polyp causing it or even uterine overgrowth/cancer (though unlikely).
