See doctor: You need to make sure that you don't have something more chronic like asthma, sinusitis etc. Perhaps a chest x-ray and/or lung function test may be in order. Check with your doctor.

Cough: Cough can be due to post nasal drainage due to a nose or sinus infection or could represent a chest infection or asthma.  For a cough severe enough to cause her to wake up multiple times and be associated with vomiting, i would have her evaluated by a doctor.

Mgt: Most episodes of bronchitis are caused by viruses which can also trigger wheezing. 
If you are wheezing, an inhaler called Albuterol is indicated. You may also need to take another medication such as an inhaled steroid, and/or an anti histamine. I would suggest a follow up with your doctor. In the meantime, rest, stay well hydrated, and monitor your temperature.

ACUTE BRONCHITIS: Your symptoms are consistent with acute bronchitis . You need to be reevaluated  labs and CXR done to rule out pneumonia. You will probably need a  course of antibiotics and a nebulizer to give deeper penetration for medication Please get evaluated promptly! If  cough and wheezing are progressive a course of steroids may be tried. Cough generates do to spasming is alveoli in lungs.

Cough: Coughing is a sign of irritation of the airways.  It can be a sign of a cold or flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, heart problems, pneumonia, asthma, allergies and many other things.

Combination...: Cough is a reflex that protects the airways/lungs from infection so when infection and/of inflammation is sensed, cough results to rid the airway of infection. Unfortunately, cough itself can create inflammation thus creating more cough. To end this cycle, anti inflammatory inhalers are sometimes needed in addition to bronchodilators.

See below: This depends on the duration of symptoms, severity of the symptoms, associated symptoms like respiratory issues, and age.  Bronchitis simply means - inflammation of the bronchi!  it is not always bacterial (as is often assumed in the lay community).  Furthermore, vomiting or gagging after coughing (post-tussive emesis) is actually protective as it is likely removing mucous from the throat and gut.
