Damage your airways: Any chemical could cause airway irritation, burning or even bronchospasm. Depends on person genetic susceptibility. With time could developed, chronic irritation, lung or airway destruction leading to emphysema, chronic bronchitis or lung fibrosis. Some irritants are known carcinogens.
Thats why I opposed any smoking. Even electronic cigarretes can damage your lungs

Varies: It varies with age/weight fitness level etc. At your age you should be able to do pretty well.

Anxiety: Any activity that helps you relax is good for anxiety. Meditation is one way where you lie or sit comfortably and just pay attention to your breathing. Don't speed it up or slow it down; just watch how it goes on its own for 10-20 minutes. Progressive muscle relaxation exercises are another way. Tighten up you face mucles for 3 seconds, relax, do it again, relax, then your neck muscle, etc.

Coughing baby: You have to ask yourself is your child in respiratory distress. If so then the child should be seen immediately. You should go over with his PCP the signs of respiratory distress so you don't panic. Lots of kids get coughs.

Need more info: Breathing fast could be due to anxiety or obesity at your age. If your symptoms worsens with activity or have associated with cough or wheezing, it could signify lung disease.  If you have additional symptoms like cough or shortness of breath, you will need to be evaluated by a physician.

Halithosis: Can be due to bacteria on tongue, dental/ peridontal disease, sinus infections, esophaglea or stomach issues as well as tonsiliths( tonsil stones) rarely DM, liver failure cancer. Smoking ,alcohol, fish garlic exacerbate it. Brush tongue when brushing,floss, gargle,  try Zyrtec/abx for nasal d/c/ sinusitis. BANA test ,b galcotsidase test for enzymes correlated with halitosis. F/U with ENT

How?: For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.  Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.
Practice safe sex.

NMI: Need more info: short of breath, feeling not getting enough air in, chest tightness, anxiety, wheezy, coughing, stomach gas, constipated, etc? All these are signs of different causes of breathing abnormalities.
