Normal finding: I am amazed about how often I have women ask me about the veins on their breast.  Occasionally they are spider veins but mostly they are blue veins.  These are almost always normal findings and normal variations of chest veins.  They tend to be more pronounced in fair skinned females and they may be related to hereditary factors, hormonal changes or even pregnancies.  No treatment is necessary.

Accepted Answer

Yes: Changes in hormones can cause enlargement of the breast and dilation of the veins, making the veins more visible.  Totally within the spectrum of normal.  If they bother you, a vein specialist or phlebologist can perform sclerotherapy.

Possible pregnancy: First get a pregnancy test. Next examine your own breasts for lumps or tenderness. Thirs- avoid push up or underwire bras and certainly consult your GYN for hormonal evaluation.

Sounds like no: Your test was negative indicating that you were not pregnant at that time. If you are still unsure you can certainly retest.

Engorgement of tissu: Appears to be the engorgement- enlargement of small areas of breast tissue.As it is closer  to the surface near the nipple you are able to feel. If related to the menstrual cycle,indicates the swelling localized island of breast tissue in response  to hormonal factors of menstrual cycle. this is nothing to worry. Hot compresses /warm soaks may help to reduce pain, if very painful.

Not serious: It is not unusual for some women with large breasts to have visible veins. They can still be treated if they are aestetically not appealing to you.

Probably.: Assuming you're female, it's very common although they aren't usually quite as large as most hand veins.   Breast veins can become very prominent during pregnancy or if you have implants.  If you're not pregnant and you want to eliminate them, you can see a vein doctor who can easily treat them, usually with as simple method called sclerotherapy.

bled on and off 4 days long. started diff bc sunday after old pack was done. now 2 weeks in to new pill, breast sore and veins. (-) test 2 1/2 after ?

Changed pills: The change in hormones when you change pills can result in symptoms including but not limited to breakthrough bleeding as you adjust to the new pill. I have patients who even do this when they change from a name brand to the generic. If you keep taking the new pill it usually improves with the next package. Hope this helps.

i stopped the 3 month injection 10 months ago. i have still not had a period, in last 4 days: sore breasts with blue veins and 2kg weight gain. help?

Accepted Answer

You need testing...: The Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) injection should not be stopping your periods after 10 months.  You may not be ovulating for some other reason.  There is a long list of causes for this such as PCOS, thyroid problems, stress, dieting, extreme exercise, etc.  Figuring it out may require blood tests etc.  You should see an Ob/Gyn for evaluation.
