Sore breasts: Breasts can be sore and/or swollen for many reasons including hormone fluctuations, medications, diet (caffeine), birth control pills, pregnancy, etc. Breasts are very sensitive to hormonal effects. Many possibilities.

Hormones: Breast tenderness is not uncommon when a woman has a surge of hormones.  Even the most well-regulated cycles sometimes 'goof up', and a woman may have an irregular cycle and hormone fluctuations.  This is most typically due to a rise in estrogen but can also be caused by Progesterone spikes.  It should pass, and  your cycle should return to normal if you are not pregnant.

Worried no, but...: Need to worry? no. IUD's can and do fail to prevent implantation resulting in ectopic pregnancies.(outside of the uterus) which can be problematic. At the very least you may have a prolactin secreting growth which may account for the leaking breasts if you are not taking other drugs that can do that as well. Obtain a prolactin and serum pregnancy test at your MD's office to clear up the concerns.

Check preg test : Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

i got a late period by 10 days, unusual for me to have a cycle of 40 days, now a week later my breast are swollen sore and i don't understand why, usually they get sore a week before period and that was the case before my period came, why sore again?

: Do a urine pregnancy test is the first thing you should do if you are sexually active. If you are not sexually active then you can watch the breast symptom for now. Hormonal imbalance can cause similar symptoms as premenstrual syndrome. See a GYN doctor if irregular cycle persists with bothered symptom(s). Good luck.

: No, you are not pregnant, continue to take antibiotic which I assume ER doc gave you 2 days ago for urogenital infection. Please drink fluid well in the next couple days. Practice sex if you do not want pregnancy and STD.

UTI: Sound like a uti, but if you have not had a period i would check a pregnancy test too.
