Leave it alone: Baby was exposed to the hormones that maintained pregnancy but these were also partly removed by the placenta. After delivery both males &amp; females can have breast tissue enlarge for a few months until the hormone disappears with time. Please don't manipulate /squeeze the nipple. Babes can make milk but if you open the lacteals germs can get in and abscess/destroy the sensitive tissue.

Open wounds: Open wounds or slower healing areas after breast reduction are not uncommon, especially in larger reductions or smokers.  It is frustrating.  Usually it is a result of poor blood supply to the particular area, commonly underneath the breast.  Because there is decrease blood flow to the area it can take several weeks to heal.  Scabbed areas usually are better dry, open areas dressing changes.
