It does happen: It is not too unusual. Most of them are not symptomatic, and just incidental findings. At times keeping an eye on them with some repeat scans is not a bad idea. Have your neurosurgeon advice you on when he/she recommends a repeat study to ensure it stays stable.

Get 2nd opinion: I am not a radiologist, but the appearance of a midline lipoma in the head is so distinctive that i suspect a radiologist could make the call with sufficient certainty to warrant no biopsy. If anyone there disagrees, get a couple of opinions.

Multiple Problems: Everything may not neccesarily be related.  One possibility that could explain several of the symptoms would be fibromyalgia.  That could explain the fatigue, depression, pain and stiffness, memory lapse with normal blood work.  I would suggest researching the doctors in your area and see if any specialize in treating fibromyalgia.  The lipomas could be removed surgically if painful.

Yes, lipomas: Can be hard and sometimes even painful.  Depending on location and size, your soft tissue mass could be something else, something more worrisome.  It is best to show it to your doctor.

NO: They do not  'come and go' , lipoma is a slow growing , benign tumor of fat tissue, once develop will not disappear , unless removed, rarely they can turn to malignant liposarcoma.

Unknown : No one is sure how and why lipomas form. However, they are almost always not cancerous and easily removed by a simple operation.

Depends...: If is a solitary one and painful and also localized in a place that could interfere with quality of life, it should be removed. If there are however many of them surgery should be reserved to the larger ones. If a rapid grow is observed it should be checked and even biopsied as it can degenerate in a nasty tumor.

Gummy bear: A lipoma feels like a soft gummy bear under the skin.  They are usually encapsulated.  Some patients describe pain as the tumor grows.
