Non-specific term: Brain lesions is a non-specific term referring to abnormalites seen either on ct scan or MRI scan. These are varied and some can have severe clinical implications such as brain tumors or multiple sclerosis lesions. Other times lesions refer to small areas of infarct or stroke. These can also occur after head injury. Brain lesions are different in appearance compared to the normal surrounding brain.

Not necessarily : A brain lesion may represent a benign or malignant tumor or may be inflammatory, hemorrhagic or ischemic(lack of blood supple to area as in a stroke).  Obviously, if you have brain lesions, you should be under the care of a qualified physician.

No: not all brain lesions produce headaches although large ones may due to increased intracranial pressure. Also, most headaches are not due to brain lesions, the most common types of headache are migraine and tension headaches which are not caused by brain lesions.

No: It is usually suggested that you do not drink alcohol with brain lesions.  This will increase your chances of having dehydration and then having seizures.

Varies: If your brain lesions affect critical areas mediating balance or coordination, things will deteriorate with alcohol.  If your lesions cause seizure activity, the situation may worsen.  Since these are generic answers, you may do better with a Concierge or INBOX consult.

Perspective: The brain lesions could be due to many events, including prior head injury, but migraine itself can cause brain lesions.  The spots themselves do not usually affect headache frequency , but if you have more headaches then have this treated.

Growth during: adulthood is something that needs evaluation by a Board Certified ENDOCRINOLOGIST. Excessive GROWTH HORMONE may be one cause!

Comments: Not uncommonly, brain lesions consistent with MS may be uncovered on an MRI, even though symptoms and/or relapses have not occurred yet.  This is called radiologically isolated syndrome.  It may be valuable to repeat the films, and if changes occur, get spinal fluid to confirm the possible early onset of MS.  This is complex, as involves treatment decisions.  Each patient is different.
