: It's important to note that one can ingest botulism spores &amp; not be harmed.  It is the toxin itself that causes botulism when ingested .  The toxin is a rather brittle protein that only survives for 1-3 hours on a surface exposed to daylight.

: Botulism bacteria are unlikely to be present in cookies and even if present cannot grow or produce toxin in these circumstances. This is zero danger even without laundry. You could eat year old cookie crumbs (or whole cookies) without any risk of botulism or any other health problem.

Botulism: Botulism is caused by Clostridium botulinum which is and anaerobic bactria that needs a closed moist space to grow so improperly canned fruits, vegetables and smoke fish common source. Raw Garlic not likely. Garlic storage in cool place can be for weeks. However when change in textrure and garlic gets mushy get rid of.  The production of Garlic oil associated with botulism.

Quantity: It is the quantity which makes one sick. And even if garlic bulbs contain the toxin, you will likely chase away all of your friends and family members from eating pounds of them before you get ill.   Certainly, most people can tolerate  200 units of botulinum from Botox injections without any problem.  Honey contains small amount of the toxin also and thus not recommended for young infants.
