doctor, im suffering low back pain from 6 months ago. my low back left side is burning and my calf muscle and foot are pain and burn.. but thigh is better.. my lower back middle side is tingling... what is going wrong with me?? can you help me?

: Most lower back problems and associated symptoms are self-limited and recurrence can be prevented with back exercise. You can use local warm or cold pack locally for the symptoms + taking OTC analgesic if needed but you need to see a physiatrist or a physical therapist for exercise lessons.

i have numbness in both sets of toes of both feet. i have some tingling in my lower back and pain when i cough or sneeze right in my lower back. could it be related to my back???? had nerve conduction test done and blood flow checked all ok?

: Yes- from your description. Pease see an orthopedic or neur-surgeon for further evaluation. In the meantime try some otc Ibuprofen hope you feel better

See a doctor: The symptoms you describe suggest a problem in the nerve roots exiting the spinal column in the back. Is this a new problem? Are the symptoms on both sides. If so, the symptoms may indicate a serious problem. Please see your doctor for an evaluation.

History & Physical: Symptoms you are describing don't easily fit together.  Before jumping to tests a thorough history and complete physical exam will help lead your doctor into ordering the appropriate studies.

history l4/l5 disc bulges. 2 lumbar punctures for meningitis, aggravated it. after road biking, bad tingling in both feet. did biking injure me more?

Probably not: Disc bulge usually cause one sided nerve impingement, mostly, but both side is possible if bulge is severe enough. Mostly the symptoms you experience with disc bulge is radiating pain going down your legs, numbness and tingling in your leg and not just in your feet. If you are having tingling at the bottom of the feet, there may be a component of neuropathy. Check with your doctor or econsult.

Several can: Tingling in both feet can suggest that the lumbar nerves are being irritated or compressed on the left and right side. A disc bulge/herniation or stenosis (narrowing) of the nerve canals on both sides of the spine can cause symptoms in both feet. Radiation to the feet often means L4-L5 or L5-S1. Be seen: I would be seen.  The two most common causes are a sciatica, or some form of vascular problem.  A sciatica is an irritation if a nerve in the back causing symptoms in the leg and is usually not dangerous; but if you are having done form if arterial insufficiency into your leg it could be limb threatening.  A simple exam can determine the likely cause.

Yes: Sounds like nerve pain possibly radiating down from your lower back. You need an exam by a physician. Antiinflammatories like Ibuprofen or Naproxen can sometimes help relieve this. If you have any weakness associated with the burning feeling, you need to see a physician ASAP
