i've been popping my neck and finger bones since i was a child.  can anything bad happen from my habit?

Not necesssarily: Popping finger joints occur due to sublimation o fthe fluid in the joint into the gaseous phase with negative  pressure  brought  on my manipulating the fingers and hence the "pop". You may also be hypermobilie with more flexibility. The important message is cracking your  knuckles  may not be a problems but you need a protective  exercise  program especially if your are  hypermobile.

Unknown: I have not seen any prospective randomized medical studies to either prove or disprove the health of popping joints.  In my opinion, it probably doesn't really hurt anything, but on the other hand, anything done to excess is probably not good for you.

my right middle finger keep getting jammed and it takes a minute for me to unjam it or to come back and placed the bone or whatever to pop back in place?

Trigger finger: Trigger finger is caused by swelling in the flexor tendon of involved finger. The swollen tendon gets caught in a fascial sling ( tunnel) that it has to pass through. Treatment may be conservative with anti-inflammatories, cortisone injections to bathe the tendon, and short term splinting. If this does not work see an orthopedist with experience in treating the hand. Plastic surgeons also treat.

there is intermittently a "pop" in my neck (near where i believe the hyoid bone is) when i swallow. i can feel the pop with my finger. what could be causing this? no pain, no difficulty swallowing, a negative laryngoscopy (4 months ago)?

: You have been checked out and there is no cause for concern. You may watch and wait. It may resolve on its own. If you get additional symptoms, see an ENT doctor.

Yes: A chip fracture is common after some sort of injury.  Often this is called an avulsion fracture as its usually a ligament pulling off a small piece of bone.  Get an xray to make sure, you may need treatment.

Crack back: If done as habit, not under supervision such as physical therapy, or if have back problems, not advised.

Accepted Answer

Growth differences: can be congenital or aquired. Advice on resolution, if possible or if needed depends much upon the cause and the symptoms. Small differences in length or angulation of a single finger typcially are not impairing, however ruling out a  cause and finding out why something is the way it is makes good sense. Usually an exam followed by an xray if indicated is the first step in finding out.

if your bone is popping though the skin, is it necessary that you have broken a bone?

Probably: Bones should never protrude through the skin. If a bone is popping through the skin it is very likely that you have broken it and the sharp edge of that fracture is "popping" through and causing the wound in the first place. Unless you already had a large open wound to begin with that exposes the bone perhaps but definitely get medical attention. Osteomyelitis - bone infection is serious risk.

i've been experiencing weird deep popping noises in my chest, almost like when u pop ur back or your fingers. i don't do this on purpose. y is this?

Pneumothorax: There is a condition called noisy pneumothorax that can cause this. It is a small pneumothorax on the left. Loud
 popping sounds can occur with certain body positions. It should resolve but you need a chest x-ray.
