i popped a boil on my chest area about 6 months ago. it left a hole that i thought would  heal itself, it still hasn't. is there a way to close it?

Accepted Answer

You may need surgery: Non-healing sores require proper evaluation.  I would suggest that you have a physician examine the area and see if it looks suspicious.  Some non-healing wounds turn out to be skin cancers.  Alternatively, it may just need a corrective surgery to close the hole.

With a visit to...: With a visit to the doctor, a person can get his boil treated. Most boils are treated with drainage of the pus inside. Antibiotics are sometimes, but not always, used after that. For boils that don't look like they are thin enough to lance through the skin, antibiotics may be used to stop the infection... and then a surgeon can remove the non-infected cyst at a later time.

Abscesses?: Abscesses, boils, small carbuncles, etc. or whatever they may be called are very tough to treat and are often caused by underlying bacterial skin infections that occur locally and can "come and go."  As you desribed, they may leave scars or marks where they were.  See a Dr. for an exam as sometimes daily antibiotic treatment for suppression may be helpful, etc.  Best wishes.

can one undergo an abdomen surgery if suffering from boils on head and chest or anywhere else? is there any risk of spreading it to the incision site?

Yes: If you have STAPH infections, it is best to get rid of the infections before surgery. If the surgery is emergency you will be given antibiotic immediately. WHAT IS THE SURGERY? What are you doing about the skin problem? What does your Dr say?

Kinetic energy: Deceleration trauma, baro trauma, penetrating trauma. All of these are forms of thoracic trauma. They may result or not on life threatening situations depending on the kinetic energy transfer.

Must be drained: Go directly to your local clinic and have the abscess opened and drained.
