horrible pimples / boils that won't go away. what could it be?

Acne is possible: You could simply be having acne but this could also be due to a superficial bacterial infection.  I really recommend you see your doctor for evaluation and appropriate treatment.

i have 2 boils/abscesses that won't go away. they are no longer painful and they are smaller in size but they've been there about 2 months. i have a third one on my behind that just recently formed. a1c is high 10.9%?

Doctor can recheck: The antibiotic-resistant bacteria called MRSA is usually checked for when a person has a boil. The doctor can swab the pus and send it to the lab. Certain antibiotics are used for MRSA boils, and other things have to be done to try to get that bacteria out of the household. Boils can still be due to regular, nonresistant bacteria... so hope it is nonresistant.

Boils: See dermatologist. Clean area with 3%peroxide twice a day. Keep hands off. Use non-alkaline soap. Get rx for clindamycin and bactroban ointment.

Get treatment: Boils are usually skin infections and should be treated with antibiotics. There are other disorders that may look like boils but may represent auto-immune disease. It would be prudent to see your doctor asap for an evaluation and treatment. Do not just wait for these things to go away. See this site for info.

Staph aureus: These are usually due to staph aureus, a bacteria which may be resident on the surface of the skin and gets in through often microscopic breaks.  This should be seen by a doctor, treated and then attempts can be made to reduce the degree of skin colonization using clorhexidine containing soap and Mupirocin nasal applications to reduce nasal colonization.

Treatment: An abscess is an infection which extends into the deeper layers of the skin.  Sometines they can be incised and drained and perhaps cultured to see what organism is causing it.  It may need oral antibiotics and topical care as well.  See your physician as scarring can result from not treating.
