There are various: vaginal secretions, tissues and blood that are released. The fact that you are having your period doesn't mean that there can't be other normal  vaginal secretions still occurring. Take care.

Proteins: When you menstruate you  slough off the lining of your uterus.  The is a large number of proteins in this fluid and they are in cellular material that is decaying. This is where the ammonia smell come from.

Accepted Answer

Possible: More then 150 symptoms have been associiated with menstrual cycles, even though only about 20 are common. More of these complaints tend to occur in the second half of the menstrual cycle. Your complaints have been described as have abdominal bloating, fatigue, and obviously mood changes. I still would discuss this with your primary md or your ob/gyn to make sure nothing else is going on.

No: There are many things that can cause pain in  women in the abdominal/pelvic area.  Pain associated with ovulation is usually in the pelvic area this is just above the pelvic bone, may be more on the right or left but is not on your sides.

Supplements : Since the FDA doesn't investigate supplements, most physicians are unfamiliar with them and are reluctant to ok their use. Supplements have been known to have contaminants, other unknown medications, interaction with prescription medications,etc. Your pharmacist may have more information for you.

Don't know: If it continues to occur you should go see an ENT, possibly get sinus films, hard to say why this is happening

Affects ovulation: To the degree that Plan B interferes with ovulation it may affect the period, which normally occurs 2 weeks after ovulation.  Taken during your period its effect will be minimal.  Practically speaking, i see minimal effects on periods from plan b.

Not related: Washing or not washing hair, and drying or not drying hair, does not cause the body aches and other mentioned symptoms. However, if wet hair makes a woman not sleep well, or if it makes her sleep in a strange head/neck position, she could be tired and moody by morning. If bothersome symptoms persist, a primary care doctor can evaluate to see if there is a problem.

Vaginal odor ?'s: Sudden emergence of vaginal discharge "so strong others can smell it" may be due to a tampon which was not removed, and with sexual intercourse pushed up in the vagina and not retrievable . See your gyn physician for an exam, as if the preceding were true, significant risk of more severe infection is possible.
