i've been drinking energy drinks everyday for the last 11 months. this morning i went for a poo and went to wipe to find bright red blood.

Rectal blood: May be unrelated, may be hemorrhoid but would follow up with doctor as could be polyp, inflammatory or food reaction. In general energy drinks can be quite dangerous , the caffeine content is very high and  they contain other substances as well. Would stop the energy drinks can develop palpitations , tremors anxiety and a host of issues. f/u w/doc.

Rectal bleeding: can be from multiple causes: irritation, inflammation, hemorrhoids, rectal fissures or fistulas. You should be examined rectally and have anoscopy performed have stool checked for blood.

In addition you need to have the bleeding checked by a gastroenterologist to rule out serious condtions including colon tumors.

Personal preference.: Drinking human blood is a definite no no for many reasons not necessarily stated here, but obvious! animal blood such as that of a cow/steer is just like any other animal organ rich in protein and other nutrients and really no different than eating steak. It's a personal preference.

Your own blood?: Hematophagy is  the practice of feeding on blood. Ingestion of blood from animals is common in some cultures and taboo in others.  I have had some psychiatric patients who drank their own blood. There are no health benefits to drinking your own blood. Some might consider you drinking your own blood to be odd.

See details: Blood is actually toxic. Drinking blood regularly runs the risk of iron overdose. It can cause fatal liver disease, arthritis and GI issues.

I would encourage: Mental health evaluation. If is difficult to know what  is going on with one symptom alone. Drinking one's own blood is not normal.
