Rectal blood: Rectal bleeding is abnormal and must be investigated. Possibilities include hemorrhoids, anal fissure, diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease or a growth in the colon or rectum. At your age, in the absence of diarrhea, I favor a benign condition like hemorrhoids. Nevertheless see your physician, gastroenterologist or colorectal surgeon for evaluation.

If recurrent then : Seek medical evaluation.  Causes of rectal bleeding can include: internal or external hemorrhoids, anal fissure, polyps, fistula, infectious or inflammatory GI conditions or in some cases, trauma.

Trauma: Basically, the wiping is somewhat of a traumatic event.  Micro-abrasions can form, especially at a time when Prostaglandin release and inflammatory changes are at their peak.

If : If it is bright red it might be due to internal or external hemorrhoids or passing dry, rough stools if constipated. This may be a one time thing. However, if it continues more than a couple of days, suggest you contact your doctor. Your doctor can check you to ensure the cause is something benign.

Many possible reason: Rectal bleeding is never normal.  The most common cause of painless rectal bleeding is internal hemorrhoids but rectal polyps and cancer can also bleed "a little" and do not cause pain until last stages.  This should be checked out.  See your doctor, a gastroenterologist or a surgeon to ensure the cause is not serious.

Can be: Most likely this was old blood and segments of uterine lining being shed. Normally there should be no further spotting or staining after the next couple of days. If so, consult your gynecologist.

Dietary/medication?: Difficult to say what the black specks would be, but if you have been eating differently (especially anything with small seeds in it) or a new medication that could possibly cause it.  Aggressive wiping could definitely cause small amounts of blood.  At your young age the risk of something serious should be low, but if the changes persist &amp; you have no recent diet/medication change a Dr visit best
