good morning dentists. could blood in saliva/phlegm be related to or from bleeding gums? is there any connection to dry mouth? other than brushing and waterpic, would you be able to offer suggestions as to cause of blood in saliva at night treatment?

Blood is a Warning: While there may be a number of causes for the blood I immediately suspect Gum disease. If you are not removing dental plaque from between your teeth with flossing, and brushing the exposed surfaces of the teeth and gums you are prone to getting inflamed gums.  They bleed easily.  Brush, Floss and rinse, and see your dentist immediately.

good evening doctors. what might be possible causes of occasional little bit of blood in saliva (late) at night before going to bed or during the night? no cough at all--little blood only occasionally in saliva. i'm onplavix 75mg and 81mg aspirin day?

Do not fret: Not unique to have bruising and minor bleeding secondary to your medication  If this exacerbates, notify your physician

good morning dentists! is it safe or not safe for an (older) adult to brush teeth more than 2x/day? also i have gum issues and get blood in saliva usually at night. what might cause this and how should i treat it?

SAFE: If you brush after eating three times a day it is safe. Use a soft toothbrush  so you don't      irritate your soft gums which can cause  bleeding .Rinse with hydrogen peroxide and Peridex and massage your gums which a gum specialist [PERIODONTIST] will tell you if you are so concerned about your problem. Now make an appointment to see a gum specialist.

Bleeding gums: Periodontal disease may result in bleeding gums. When mixed with saliva it often appears   excessive. See your dentist to have a complete exam including a full periodontal examination.

No: It is not normal to have blood in your saliva regardless of the amount of saliva produced.  You most likely have some form of periodontal (gum) disease.  See a dentist for a complete and thorough dental examination and periodontal evaluation.

Blood in saliva: I recommend a careful and complete examination of your mouth and throat by an Otolaryngologist or oral surgeon. At your age I don't expect there is any serious pathology. This is also a great opportunity for you to permanently discontinue smoking or using any tobacco products.

OK, but not repeated: It's very common for people to have some bleeding after vomiting forcefully.  The esophagus is irritated and bleeds.  Fortunately, it is a constrictor muscle, so it stops its own bleeding.  For this to happen once or twice is not harmful.  However, constant irritation of the esophagus can lead to other health problems, so it is not something you want to happen frequently.

i had oral sex and i had a small wound on my penis where he licked me (not bleeding, it was a small epidermal cut from shaving my penies). is that risky for hiv transmission from saliva to small wound? i didn't see any amount of blood in saliva?

: HIV can be transmitted in that way. Pl get yourself tested. Recommend know HIV status of person before risky sexual contact.
