See your gastro Md: With continued discomfort while on Nexium (esomeprazole) you must seek further medical help as you may have an ulcer which could bleed. In the meantime please avoid citrus and spicy foods esp tomato based productd and juices. Also avoid  alcohol and caffeine. Good luck!

Yes: Bloating can be uncomfortable and adversely affect the ability for inspiration.  The diaphragm is forced superior further impacting on a deep breath. This can result in shallow breathing which causes hyperventilation resulting in chest pain and shortness of breath.

Doctor can evaluate: If it is reflux (heartburn), people can try antacids like Maalox, Mylanta, or Tums. There are also acid-blocking medications like Pepcid (famotidine). But, such symptoms may be other things instead of simple reflux. A patient could have esophagitis, H. pylori infection, malabsorption, heart or lung disease, anxiety, etc... It's best to have one's doctor evaluate and look at all possibilities.

Nighttime reflux: In order to control nighttime reflux you will need to increase your Omeprazole to twice a day befor breakfast and dinner and you may want to add Pepcid (famotidine) at bedtime. You should also wait at least 3 hours after dinner prior to going to bed.

NO: At age 20, a heart attack would be more rare than finding a gold coin in Central Park. Your symptoms could be due to lots of other things but I'd put panic attack at the top of the list, if you think that may be the case?
