Depends: It really depends on where in the stomach the hernia is, size, whether it is a recurrent hernia, etc  many hernias are repaired with cameras these days (laparoscopic) while others are better repaired open.  Abdominal wall hernias (groin, belly button, etc) usually require you to avoid strenuous activity for 4 - 6 weeks after repair.  Pain usually resolves in 1 to 3 weeks.

Unlikely: but can come around a permanent mesh.
There are some absorbable meshes however, So check and be seen by your surgeon if you are concerned.

See a doctor: i do not know how your hernia was repaired three years ago.
pain now after three years, is not normal.
pain in the testicle is not normal.
see a doctor, your pain might not be related to a hernia,
you might have a problem in the testicle like epidedemytis.
so see a doctor for evaluation, either they will assure you, or treat you.

Yes: Anytime you have a surgery there is an inflammatory reaction and some swelling as the body heals itself. However, if the swelling seems excessive to you or if you have fever or pain, then see your doctor for an evaluation.

Most likey: It's only been a few days since your surgery and most people will have discomfort for a week or two after ventral hernia repair.  Binder support helps sometimes.  When is your scheduled postoperative check? Your surgeon is your best resource at this point - call if you have concerns.

See a doctor: Very hard to tell here without a physical examination. Are you describing hardness around the surgical sites? If mesh was used for the hernia surgery then deep scarring firmness can be felt for up to 6 months. Are you describing gas pressure? Diet changes & avoid fatty foods for a while. See your doctor or surgeon for an exam for more help.
