can you tell me how a blister forms on your eardrum?

Eardrum blister: The eardrum is covered with a thin layer of epithelium, which makes it a lot like very very thin skin.  As such, the things that can cause blisters on skin can affect the ear drum and things that might be irritating to the skin can cause blistering on the drum.  Here are a few things that can do it:  trauma, viral infection, bacterial infection, foreign body, persistent wetness of the ear canal.

Myringitis: Blisters on the ear drum is a form of ear infection. Most respond to the same medication that we use for middle ear infections. Some may benefit  from adding a topical pain medication in dropper form.

Not likely: Some bacterial ear infections produce bullae/vesicles ("blisters") on the ear drum. The majority will resolve spontaneously as the infection resolves, and with no residual problems. Should get the ear rechecked after symptoms gone (/antibiotics done, if put on them), to be sure that there is no fluid collection behind the drum & the bulla is gone.

Definitely: Loud noises can involve sound energy sufficient enough to damage the eardrum. Not sure why you ask, but if suspected worth a visit to a doctor to have a look.

Hearing loss +: Discharge from the ear.  Ear drum perforation is one of the complications of infections in the middle ear.  The symptoms of otitis media include pain, fever, loss of hearing in the affected ear and on perforation of the ear drum discharge into the external auditory canal.

Infected tissue: Granulomas, wherever they occur, are infected tissue. On the ear drum area, they are often seen coming from ear tubes. It should be treated with a topical antibiotic and steroid combination like ciprodex. A follow-up exam should occur after treatment by an ENT, for a diagnosis and further treatment or biopsey if not resolved.

Dizziness: You may have a middle ear infection.  You need to see your doctor or an ENT specialist.

TREAT THE CAUSE: If it is sponntaneous rupture dut to an infection, you need antibiotics and pain meds and there is healing on its own
but if it is traumatic due to puncture with a sharp object than wait for two months and if it does not heal than surgery called tymanoplasty can be done to close the hole.
