Ask doctor: If bone is healed and hardware is believed to be source of problem, then it should be removed. That is unless there is another circumstance that would make removal unwise. That is why you and your doctor need to discuss.

Weeks: The initial pain should improve within a few weeks but soreness and swelling may be present for several months.Keep pressure off of your foot/ankle and elevate when possible.  Ice is usually helpful.

Not recommended: If you are in any type of surgical shoe or boot or cast. I would actually let the doc tell you when its okay. If you are in an accident and your wearing any of those post op shoes etc you put yourself at liability and danger.

Depends: Not sure if you have spoken with any professional about different treatment options regarding your unstable ankle.  Something as little as shoegear change, or physical therapy can help.  If more acute or chronic type of pain, i would suggest you see a podiatrist.

Yes: A blood clot in the leg for any reason is potentially life threatening. You need to be monitored and have anti coagulation medication asap.

Walking in Aircast: Just walk as normal as possible if your doctor cleared you do do so. Expect some pain at first but will ease up and follow instructions doctor gave you.

Wait: This is probably normal after the operation, and will recover in the coming days, weeks, or possibly even months. Ask your surgeon about it at the postoperative visit. Hope this helps!
