Pap smear bleeding: After menopause, the decreased estrogen makes the mucosa of the cervical area and the lining of the cervix much more delicate and apt to bleed on contact. Pap smears are sometimes the cause of this kind of bleeding. It should stop within a day or so. If it continues, see your provider.

Not uncommon: This is fairly common.  We as gynecologists try to be extra careful but inevitably there may be some trauma to the vagina during an exam.  In addition, a pap test can actually elicit a small amount of bleeding from the cervix itself.  Do not be alarmed if there is some spotting or even light bleeding.  It should stop after a few days.  If you experience heavy bleeding, see your doctor immediately.

: Many people who have a Pap smear notice light bleeding, or spotting, FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS after the test. In most cases, this is not a cause for concern, and it usually goes away without intervention.

Ok, monitor: Bleeding after a Pap test is usually small in amount and lasts only for a few days, and starts to get slow pretty quickly. So, if your bleeding continues, is heavy, or prolonged, then let your provider know.

yes: When doing a pap you scape the cervix which might cause bleeding after the pap.  I alway tell people they might have a little spotting a fter the pap, especially when nothing looks abnormal.

Pap results: Contact your Obgyn and find out the pap smear results.  Since you have tested positive for HPV this is important information. Also ask if any abnormalities were found during your examination. If your cramping continues schedule a follow up exam for testing

No: The odds of you have occult or undetected cervical cancer is very low if no lesions were identified on exam or on pap smear. Maybe you are having sex that causes trauma due to force or discordance in genital sizes? Are you adequately lubricated? Lack of lubrication can also cause spotting/bleeding

Cervix: Bleeding after sex is usually due to some lesion on the cervix. A normal PAP does not rule other lesions in the cervix. It would require examination of your cervix to know better. Please see this site for more info and consult your doctor for an examination.
