UTI prevention: Nitrofutantoin taken 100 mg daily can prevent recurrent uti's.

Bladder pressure: Pressure on the bladder and deep in the pelvis can cause a radiating leg pain. See a MD to delineate the cause with a pelvic exam+.

Unlikely: Typical symptoms of a bladder infection are urinary frequency, urgency, burning, and bladder pressure and discomfort. Pain in the butt radiating down the leg unlikely and more suggestive of a sciatica-like problem. If truly a bladder infection with a positive culture, then an appropriate antibiotic will relieve all uti-related symptoms.

after having a steroid shot for sinus infection in my hip i've been having lower back, buttocks, and back of both legs pain.  normal?

Not normal: but as well unlikely to be related to the shot, even if the needle hits a nerve on side, it wouldn't cause all those symptoms on both side and lower back, and sometimes the symptoms you described are treated with steroids. You want to see your doctor for assessment, meanwhile take an NSAID as ibuprofen, but read the labels carefully, and get some rest,  good luck

if you have a bladder infection and on antibiotic,can you get a cortisone shot in your knee.would it make infection worse-cortisone?

UTI &amp; cortisone shot: Unlikely that intraarticular cortisone will make a bladder infection worse  - I am assuming you were on treatment for the infection prior to the cortisone shot.   Bladder infections generally respond quickly with the right antibiotic.    Just to be sure  I would ask for a urine culture several days after completing the antibiotic to make sure the infection is cleared.    good luck

i had an 8.9cm cyst going to the er. i have numbness,pain radiating to my thigh,pressure and bloading in abdomen. can't sit for long time.went to er again its 10.3cm ovarian cyst. now i have a bladder infection. should the cyst be surgically removed?

: You should take both your ultrasounds to a Gyn and be examined and get an opinion. RE bladder infection drink 5-6 glasses of water a day, empty your bladder when you get the urge avoid constipation  keep the area clean and finish off the medicine given for it

i have a bladder infection. cannot take cipro (ciprofloxacin) or sulphameth, these both cause me great muscle pain in my limbs. am taking macrobid now  ~ not working!?

Need urine culture: Plus sensitivities will identify the organism responsible for the bladder infection. You might then be able to use a second line antibiotic as you can't use 3 most frquently prescribed meds. You might respond to a tetracycline, augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) amoxicillin, zithromax, suprax etc.

UTI: Knowing which bacteria caused your bladder infection usually dictates the antibiotic to be used after susceptibility tests are done. If you do not feel better within 48 to 72 hours, either ask your doctor for the next best antibiotic or have a repeat urine culture done. Studies have shown that drinking cranberry juice can help treat a urine infection.

UTI's nth time...: Frequent Intercourse in the past month is the most common risk factor. Factors affecting bladder emptying like increase in residual urine in bladder after emptying (post void residual), incontinence, and cystocele, are strongly associated with recurrent UTIs. Make sure the antibiotic is right for the bug. Better yet see your urologist or urogynecologist.
