Sounds like it: but you should also ask your dentist to check for mal-occulsion causing you to bite your lip.  If stress is the major issue, then methods to reduce stress would be the solution.   Repetitive trauma to any tissue can lead to scarring and even cancerous changes over time.

Please share your problem with your parents and ask them to find help for you either from a Conseller or a psychologist. It is not uncommon to have such problem during teen years but there is medical help available. But you must seek help right away and not delay it.

TMD: This is due to grinding or bruxism at night..... Large % of the population suffers from tmd causes could be anything from stress, malocclusion, obstructive sleep apnea, closed envelope of function... Sere a general dentist to check for all of the above.

Btw...it's BRUXISM..: The mouth guard doesn't stop bruxism but only eliminates the harmful effects (tooth wear)...Relieving the cause (most often stress) is the answer.
