No: There is no evidence that any vitamin supplement helps alleviate symptoms associated with any psychiatric illness. Vitamin k specifically has no known effects on the brain or on psychiatric illness. It is primarily associated with bone growth and clotting. There is some research associating omega 3 fatty acids (especially high dha) with better mental health but even these are preliminary.

That's the claim: Although i don't have a lot of clinical experience with empower+, I do have some. A few clients attempted to use this product and discontinued their mood stabilizing med. The result was not favorable with two requiring psych hospitalization. None of my clients remained on it. The longest someone stayed with it was 3 months.

what herbs or vitamins could possibly help my severe bipolar? i am into natural remedies only. i have had a hard time finding something to help me.

Need an eval: Vitamins or herbs alone can't help severe bipolar illness. Ask your pcp for referral to a psychiatrist. I hope you find help soon.

Vit E: EVALUATION: The "vitamin" i would respectfully suggest the most is a general health and mental health evaluation with her doctor.  (vitamin "e" = evaluation).  Bipolar disorder can show up in adolescents, but so can substance abuse and many other issues.  Being in love is a regular part of adolescence so that doesn't seem unusual -- but possibly what she's doing with this, could be.  Psychiatrist can help.

In addition to: Omega 3's, especially fish oil, may be helpful along with mood stabilizers -- but not instead of them.  A study of taurine in bipolar disorder has been completed at mclean hospital, but results have not yet been published.   Theoretically it could stabilize neuronal firing.  I would still not rely on any of these supplements to the exclusion of mood stabilizing medications.

i take seroquel (quetiapine) for my bipolar disorder what vitamin can i take to counter act  the weight gain and help with weight loss?

Vitamins won't help: Helpful weight loss diets have natural foods that take time to chew but contain few calories. Examples include carrots, celery, and iceberg lettuce (little/no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar & simple starch calories.

had bipolar diaplopia 5 year back done all the test but nothing was diagnosed. and was recovered in 4 months. again experience the same  visit neurologist, he gave multi vitamin & steroids. nthng was diagnosed in previous mri antibody test?

Second opinion: I suspect a demyelinating disorder like multiple sclerosis. I recommend a second opinion by a neuroopthalmologist at a university hospital opthalmology department.

Very common: In my opinion, it's virtually impossible these days to get all the nutrients we need from food. Our produce is deficient due to farming and harvesting practices, and our increasingly toxic planet and stressful lives increases our body's requirements for nutrients to help detoxify. We have no good food sources for vitamin d or iodine.  I recommend multivit, vit d, and fish oil for everyone.

Vit c: In general, yes.  Vit C up to about 500 mg per day is perfectly safe.

is it beneficial to take a vitamin c supplement daily for a healthy male in late 20's?

Accepted Answer

Not indicated: It is not necessary for an otherwise healthy male in late 20s to take a vitamin c supplement. But it woudn't hurt take some within reason. It would be better to get vitamins from whole foods.
