i noticed my total bilirubin level was 1.1 with the range being 0.2-1.3. it's in range but i don't think it has ever been that high. concerned. ?

my bilirubin level year ago was 18 umol/l which was normal range of less than 20. moved to a different city and have exact same result of 18 umol/l but this city has a lower reference range of 17 max so now this is not normal??? is this a concern?

i have a bilirubin level of 31.7 umol/l & my liver us showed fat build up.all other blood levels are within normal range. bmi is 21. any huge concern?

Elevation of bilirub: Isolated in a young man can be due to Gilberts disease which is a benign congenital condition with defect in the glucorindation of bilirubin. However the etiology of the fatty liver is unclear. I guess a GI specialist will help since your BMI is normal

: you probably have a condition known as Gilbert’s syndrome which causes a mild elevation in bilirubin when you are dehydrated .  It is an inherited condition when your liver produces bilirubin and is usually discovered accidentally when routine blood work is done.
It requires no treatment and is of no major concern.

: All results are within normal limits so you do not need further liver test. If both AST and ALT are within normal limits, you can disregard the AST/ALT. Take care.

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your alkaline phosphatase just above the normal range and by itself not a cause for concern. You may take Vitamin D3, 2000 units/day as deficiency is common. Depends: Your total bilirubin level is just above the upper limit of normal for most labs, but in isolation, it doesn't help in finding its root cause or knowing its significance.  Advise talking to your doctor about all your lab results.

Bilirubin: Elevated bilirubin can result from two main sources-- breakdown of hemoglobin (from red cells) and blockage of normal secretion from the liver (obstruction of a bile duct.) These two sources are distinguishable in blood (bound vs. unbound.) Get more information and correlation of type of bili to be sure.

More than ~1.5 mg/dL: Or thereabouts. Whether it means anything is another story. Folks with gilbert's hover between here and maybe 3-4 without being sick. Folks who have hemolysis from illness or extreme athletics run a high bilirubin that's well tolerated. Liver disease and bile duct obstruction are likely to raise bile salts and the jaundice is thus more unpleasant.
